All about Minolta Maxxum Digital SLR Camera

Minolta Maxxum Camera   The Konica Minolta Maxxum single lens reflex (SLR) camera is a product of Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A., Inc. Its market debut has been a groundbreaking introduction, with its unparalleled resolution of 6.1 million pixels.  The Minolta Maxxum Digital SLR Camera features, among several innovations, a CCD-shift integrated into its body and interchangeable lenses. This digital SLR enjoys compatibility with virtually all of the Maxxum AF lenses available in the market, making it adaptable to virtually any photography situation or application. The design of this digital SLR also incorporates technology that delivers higher picture quality and performance, underscored by a clever compensating mechanism to dramatically reduce camera shake.

The Maxxum Digital SLR Camera is an offspring of the innovation-driven merger of two giants in the photo and camera   business, Konica of Japan and Minolta of the US.  The brand name Konica has long been synonymous with silver-halide or film photography.  Konica was the first to manufacture photographic paper and introduce the first color paper and color films in Japan.  It was also the pioneer in washless photofinishing, setting the trend for compact minilab systems which revolutionized the photo finishing and printing worldwide by bringing the entire process to consumer centers and thereby accelerating processing and delivery of printed photographs.

The innovative minds at Minolta, on the other hand, were behind the introduction of the first autofocus camera in the market.  The National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA has recognized the technological superiority of Minolta by having the company’s camera among the equipment of the “Friendship 7” mission, the first US manned space flight. The Minolta camera lenses are on a league of its own, an accessory much sought after by both professional and amateur photographers so much so that the company has sold interchangeable lenses totalling more than 16 million units worldwide.

The combined technical expertise of Konica and Minolta has also seen the market introduction of Maxxum 7000, among the first digital SLR cameras specifically developed for general consumer use. The operational efficiency of the Minolta Maxxum Digital SLR Camera is in fact an offshoot of that initial offering in the earlier 7000 model.  What sets the former apart from its 7000 predecessor is a compensating system for camera motion based on a CCD shift anti-shake technology, exclusive only to the Maxxum Digital Slr.  With such a system in place, shooting at dramatically lower shutter speeds and still producing razor-sharp images becomes a welcome possibility.

Integrated directly into the camera body, this anti-shake mechanism thus works its wonders with virtually all Maxxum AF lenses, a great alternative compared to the digital correction and lens-based optical stabilization setups which are not only expensive and bulky but also sacrifices image clarity.
