Digital back for Mamiya camera expands photographer capabilities
Flexibility in photography using Mamiya systems has been enhanced further. During the Photokina 2008, a new digital back for Mamiya camera was unveiled. This innovation is now being marketed as Mamiya ZDb, a 22-megapixel digital back. This new product further refines the features of the highly regarded Mamiya ZD Digital Back with the research and development team of Mamiya yet coming out with yet various further refinements to meet the evolving needs of digital photography.
Longer shooting hours is made possible with this new digital back for Mamiya camera as it has twice the memory size of the original ZD Digital Back. Through this enlarged buffer, full-resolution RAW files at a maximum of 22 frames could be accommodated. Furthermore, additional memory storage has been incorporated in the new digital back by making it compatible with Secure Digital High Capacity or SDHC memory cards capable of storing images totalling 32 gigabytes. In addition to the SDHC card, the Mamiya ZDb Digital Back is also compatible with CF I, CF II and SD cards.
Paired with the new Mamiya 645 AFDIII camera, the ZDb will enable access to the camera’s 35 custom function controls which will appear on the LCD panel. The custom camera settings, hence, become more user-friendly and faster to operate. Software has also been made available for download at the Mamiya website to enable faster and easier shooting in tethered mode. This new remote capture software works via the 1394 Firewire cable to save images from the Mamiya Digital Back to a PC or Mac computer. And with the Mamiya RAW files accessible using commonly used processing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Capture One 4.1 from Phase One, the user gains the option to process the image files through a wider choice of software.
Affordably priced, this digital back for Mamiya camera is also compatible with camera models RZ67 Pro-IID, RB67Pro-SD, 645 AFDII, and 645 AFDIII, allowing the transformation of these film cameras into professional, high-end digital systems. Earlier, Mamiya also launched its ProSD Adapter HX702 to enable compatibility of the Mamiya ZD 22-megapixel Digital Back with the medium-format cameras Mamiya RB67 Pro-S and Pro-SD. Through this adapter, these film camera models are transformed into 22-megapixel digital cameras capable of capturing brilliant images of high quality. Photographers loyal to the Mamiya system are thus ensured of keeping themselves in step with technological advancements of digital photography at an affordable price without having to invest in new equipment.

Almost every family has a Camera buff who loves to take pictures and mine is no exception. Taking great pictures used to be difficult for a beginner. But now with digital cameras it is a snap taking great photos since with most cameras you can look at the image and decide to take another or keep the first.
