Review of Sony Alpha A100 Camera

 |

Sony Alpha A100            Since Konica Minolta and Sony came to an agreement to jointly produce cameras, this has changed the landscape of digital SLR market right away. This led to the prediction of experts and camera enthusiasts that they will build together a camera based on the design and technologies of Minolta with the use of Sony’s battery and other electronics. Later in early 2006, Konica Minolta announced that they have sold to Sony their lens designs and other properties. Sony was able to acquire all they need and by June of the same year, they released their first digital SLR camera known as the Alpha A100 Camera.

The Sony Alpha A100 Camera is seen as something built originally by Konica Minolta, it still has the same anti-shake technology, the same lenses and a similar design. However, there are striking differences. In other words, Sony has taken something that has been successful and tried to improve even more on that. First, let us take a look at the lenses used by this Digital A100 Camera.

The mount of the A100 is similar to Konica Minolta’s A-type bayonet mount. The lens itself is a ten megapixel CCD. Interesting enough with this camera is that Sony made use of CCD instead of CMOS which they have used before. Another feature common to Konica Minolta digital SLR cameras that the Sony Alpha Camera has picked up is the eye start Auto Focus. Whenever the user’s eye comes close to the eye piece, the camera will start to auto focus and will continue to do so until it is removed.

The anti dust technology used on the A100 is also noteworthy since the issue of dusting has been around for as long as cameras have been around. This Alpha A100 Camera makes use of an anti static coating made of Indium Tin Oxide so that it can avoid any build up of dust using static electricity. The former anti-shake of Konica Minolta is now known as the Super Steadyshot in the A100. The process and function is the same but the technology has been changed a bit by Sony in order to try to improve the technology even better.

Overall, the Sony Alpha A100 Camera is an astounding piece of technology. Grabbing some of the best features and qualities it can and adding its own unique style makes this camera worth at least a look.
